Hike up along a beautiful mountain stream onto Kelly Ridge Roadless Area. Expect to see leatherwood, yellowwood, sugar maple, large black birches, and a huge cucumbertree. Descend from Kelly Ridge into a high-elevation cove with ramps emerging underneath huge old-growth yellow buckeyes and abundant wildflowers including Carolina spring beauty, squirrel corn, trilliums, and Dutchman's britches.

Meeting Time, Place, and Directions:
10:00am in Ingles parking lot on the north side of US Hwy 76 in Hiawassee, GA. From there we'll carpool for the 5 mile drive to the trailhead where parking is very limited.

Distance and Difficulty:
Loop hike, approximately 5 miles.
Strenuous, bushwhacking, briars, stream crossings, etc. Approximately 1,800 ft elevation difference between lowest and highest points on hike. Leisurely pace.
Limit:
10 hikers Bring: Lunch, water, rain gear, appropriate clothing and footwear, hiking poles, etc. (Allergic to bees/wasps? Remember your meds/epi-pen)
Rain Date: Hikers will be notified if hike is canceled due to forecasts of severe weather, etc.
