 Photo by Peter McIntosh Join us as we hike to the top of Georgia's second highest mountain at an elevation of 4,696 ft. Expect to see flora uncommon in Georgia including American mountain ash, minnie bush, mountain fetterbush, black chokeberry, and catawba rhododendron. When the sky is clear, Rabun Bald has one of the best mountaintop views in Georgia. Leader: Ben Cash

Rabun Bald Meeting Time, Place, and Directions:
10:00 am in Ingles parking lot on US 76 in Clayton, GA. From there we'll carpool for the drive into North Carolina and back into Georgia through Sky Valley to the trailhead. Distance and Difficulty:2.2 miles each way. This is a strenuous hike. It will be led at a leisurely pace. There is approximately a 1,000 ft elevation difference between lowest and highest points on the hike. There are two more peaks in between. Some sections are steep and rocky.
Bring: Snack, water, rain gear, and appropriate clothing and footwear, walking sticks, etc. (Allergic to bees/wasps? Remember your meds/epi-pen.) Cancellation: Hikers will be notified if hike is cancelled due to forecast of severe weather, etc.
Pet & Alcohol Policy: Thank you for not bringing your pet friends or any adult beverages on Georgia ForestWatch outings. And, no smoking, please.
